SPORT PSYCHOLOGY

Educated at Manchester Metropolitan University in his native England, John gained two undergraduate qualifications in Sport Science and Disabilities and Business Sport and Recreation.

Following graduation he completed a Master’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Science (Sport Psychology) and further gained BASES (British Association of Sport & Exercise Science) accreditation for applied sport psychology support whilst employed at Macclesfield Town FC, before relocating to Canada.

Applied sport psychology is a passion and challenge, to observe and support coaches and athletes in identifying, understanding and confronting their personal performance goals.

SPORTS COACHING:

John holds Canadian A License coaching award in soccer, UEFA B Licence and many other sports coaching qualifications. With other 35 years coaching experience, as a professional soccer coach, he has worked for many club’s in England including full-time at Macclesfield Town and Middlesbrough FC. In Canada he was the Manager of Grassroots Development Alberta Soccer Association for 10 years. Current support is provided to Ambrose University soccer program and Janus Academy in Calgary.

John has supported coaches and athletes from a variety of sports including triathlon, hockey, running, rugby, cycling, disability sports and dance.

COMPETITIVE SPORT

John continues to compete within triatlon and trail running. He has competed at various age group world championship events including the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii (three times) and Boston Marathon.
